I have always had the desire to become an entrepreneur. It was back in 2009 when I started to think about it. At the time, I was a younger engineer with a lot of dreams and expectations regarding my future and career. Over the years, I have worked for various different companies embracing different industries, from water treatment to food and beverages, from sanitation to oil & gas, from foundry to packaging… each of them has played an important role in my life and professional growth. I began to feel the need to improve my capabilities and offer my customers not only technical support but also a strategic partner, and so it was that in 2014, I started to look for an MBA course.

Thanks to my MBA, I have had the opportunity to figure out some difficulties and to learn to perceive a negative situation as a starting point. This gave rise to the idea of setting up a forwarding and logistics services company. After my experience of the clean tech competition I started to see my ideas as a real opportunity, not only for myself but also for others. That project was an educational challenge during which, for the first time in my life, I came to understand what “think like an entrepreneur” actually means.
Thanks to the support of Professor Lettieri and MIP staff, I started to believe in the potential of some of my ideas and to develop them. EPG Cargo & Logistics is the result of different experiences and the desire to change, a little, the perception of the forwarding sector.

Our goal is not only to offer a service but also to create solutions to specific needs with flexibility and attention to detail – even if our customers may not even be aware of those needs. Our objective is to be more than a forwarding agent and to maintain our track record of reliability and honesty, both of which stand us in good stead, as does the MBA at MIP. It gave me a lot of insight, which makes it possible to handle the complications of the business, not least the bureaucracy.

Thanks to the power of networking, we have built up strategic partnerships with forwarding company in the UAE, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Italy and other European countries, as well as the United States, all of which enable us to have access to their networks and sell our services worldwide. Setting up a company means having the opportunity to play different roles and to figure out how to address each single issue and view success from different perspectives.

Working as an employee provides the opportunity to learn and practice specific, specialized, tasks, and to achieve results that other people have asked of you; when you drive your own company, your whole perspective changes. You are not only doing something for yourself but also for the community and the world in which you live. When I arrive at the office and see what I have created, it feels incredible. We have an employee and this means accepting responsibility for him. Every day, we have to address new tasks and it is a steep learning curve. Thanks to the cases studied at MIP, I have learned a methodology  ̶  thanks to reality, I can put my learning into practice every day.
